Quarantine tank maintenance

So my quarantine has cycled and I just put in this nice purple firefish.

What maintenance do you guys/gals perform on a quarantine tank?

I have a 20 gallon tank with aquaclear hob filter.

I change the water once once every 2-3weeks ,, bc of the chemicals I add to help cure the fish

I qt with Cupramine. 2-3 weeks. Once fish out change water and start again if new fish added

What about if I use no chemicals?

Can I use the water from my water change off my 90 gallon?

You shouldn't use chemical unless you're treating the fish for something.

If the water from your tank is good, low nitrates, then it would be fine to use it for water changes in your QT.

I use my DT tank water to change water in my QT.

And as a tip, you should not have to cycle a QT. You need to have a qt ready to go in a moments notice if you need to get a fish in there.

Goto the store and pick up some ceramic disks like you would use in a hob. I bought a big bag of them and then put some in media bags. Drop them in your sump and just leave them there. They will colonize with bacteria.

Then if you need to get a qt going then you just put those ceramics in an HOB and then fill the QT with tank water. BOOM instant cycled QT.

But make sure that if you put any medicine in that QT, you need to then discard those ceramic disks after you break down the QT, DO NOT, i say DO NOT put them back in your sump with meds...
