Cheato not looking so good

My chaeto has losts its color , has green hair algae and looks like another type of green algae on it. I have a 6500 k bulb on it about 8"from water line. any suggestions?

If something is out competing the cheato like GHA, that would explain it.

Maybe you shoudl reduce the lighting or make it higher. I had the same issue iwth my refugium, too much lighting and too much phosphates and nitrates where GHA growing and was outcompeting others.

when was the last time you changed the bulb? i know mine starts looking shitty when the bulb gets old and light 24/7 on it is fine just as long as its not too strong

Reverse lighting, turn on at 10pm and off at 10am.

Is it only light colored on top?

If so. Try doing 18 on 6 off.

If its all light colored could be iron deficiency

The bulb I am using is 120w equivalent 6500k , 1250 lumens ,23watt is this to strong? I am about 7" awl also. I guess ill try 18 0n 6 off.

Bulb should be fine. Try the 18 on 6 off.

Is all of it light colored or only the top?

Just switched to 18 on 6 off hope that works.
