Mushroom corals

I currently have a 46 gallon bow front with about 70lbs of live rock.i also have mushroom corals and I would like to know how high on the rocks I should place them.I have a metal hailide 250 watt and 150 watts of actinic blue light.

you shouldn't have a problem placing those pretty much wherever you want. they don't need much light and are very hardy.

from what i've found over the years - mushrooms dont like too much light.. the lower the better, if placed high and irritated they may end up falling off and attaching to substrate below.

They will find their own happy place no matter where you place them. So expect them to detach off the rock if they do not like the current placement.

Medium to low light, and light flow is preferred by the once I've had. Too much light or flow they will detach, and float where ever.

As with all coral I would start low and work your way up the rock...

If the coral came from less intense lighting and you throw it under MH's, it may not adjust so easily..start on the sandbed or just off of it and every other day move it up a few inches.

Should the coral react negatively..monitor it and move it down accordingly. If it seems to do ok try moving it up higher.
