I've seen sone set up with 3 switches altogether hooked up to a controller like an apex. They have 2 in the sump to monitor high and low low levels and the other in the reservoir to notify them when to replenish.

Once I put together a breakout box I plan to have a similar set up with my apex.

what you are looking to do, you need to find an ATO that does exactly what you want. Do you have a controller??? You can program controllers to do ATO. But i think it is more important to actually have 2 in the tank so that you dont flood your sump.

Better off just making sure that you have water in your resv

dude get the autotopoff with the two sensors. I have had it for over a year and never had a problem. How big is the reservoir?

I use a 5g bucket on my nanos and it last me about two weeks. In the summer it last me a little over a week.

word dont buy the jbj... i had float switches in my sump and in the reservoir just so the pump wouldnt burn out until the sump float switched crapped out on me.. then used the reservoir float for the sump and stepped up my reservoir to a 10 gallon tank ( that way i would just refill it once a week and would give me some room incase i couldnt and had to do it the next day) but you really dont need one in the reservoir just fill it when ever you check on it even if its half way.... had to replace both floats under a years time and order replacements ... some people have luck with them i was just one of them who didnt...
