Ok... here's a question that I don't think has a right answer, but I'd love some opinions on this one. How do you place new corals in your tank? I've been trying to figure out where the best place for corals in my tank is and don't know where the best water movement and lighting is for each... nor will I know with future corals. I know some like bright or moderate light some like heavy or light water movement... but isn't this all relative?

I'm not looking for a specific answer to where I should put my current corals, just some methods you use to place your corals.

all depends on what type of corals ,,

Most SPS corals like high flow with high lighting .withan exception of a few

where with soft and LPS coral ,they tend to like a low to mild flow with less light .with an exception of a few

my tnak is 90 LPS and softie with a few SPS ,i dont have lots of flow nor do i have intense light ,i use 175wx2 which are now on for 2 hrs aday do to heat ,and VHO 125w X 2 which are on 11 hrs day

First of all ask before you buy, Here at the store or look at websites for flow and lighting req's.

Second for high light req corals place tem high in the tank if your lights are lower intensity that where you got them from, if you have higher or equal intensity place low and move upwards untill the coral is happy. This is primarily SPS corals with the exception of a few softies and LPS.

All low light or med light place low to middle and move around to the apropriate height until they are happy.

Flow is tricky but if it needs direct high flow put the coral in an area similar. If not make sure it gets a lil flow in an area that isn't high flow.

All I got, there are great websites and books out there but before you buy ask here first.
