How is your tank doing? Any issues or concerns currently?
I'm a believer in the theory if not broke, don't fix it.

With that being said i understand wanting to try new things out for sake of not being boring or old habit. I would get a reactor for carbon and not use chemi pure. I think it could be more effective usage and probably less expensive on grand scheme of things

3 day black out , followed by manual removal of any left over algae , then 50 percent water change to reduce nitrates and phosphates , then run some gfo for a couple of weeks , should take care of the problem however you should seek out whats causing the problem in the first place , lights and nutrients are what fuel algae go a good sandbed cleaning and sump/refugium cleaning , most people let thier fuge get nasty and thats a huge source of phosphates, i clean mine bi weekly
