diatom bloom

i have a biocube thats been cycling for one week and have noticed a diatom bloom. is that normal during the first week of cycle?

its normal for the initial cycling of a saltwater tank. How about telling us everything you have in this tank from live sand, Livestock, rock, flow, lighting ect.... spill the beans

BTW you are going to see a few more algae cycles along the way.... The one i hate the most is cyano :arg:

ok in the tank i got about 15 pounds of live rock, substrate is crushed coral, as far as lights are concerned i got 2 24 watt 10,000k bulbs, 2 24 watt 420 actinic bulbs, and i got moon lights

I got a diatom bloom in the first month or so of my tank. I read it's pretty common for new tanks.

Went away on its own after a couple weeks.

just keep doing your regular water changes and siphon as much out as you can within that water change. i wouldn't of went crushed coral but its your tank. Good luck
