Feather rock

Has anyone used Feather Rock in your reef tank?? I've used it in my African tanks in the past,just not sure if it is safe in a reef?? Thanxxx in advance!!

I used it in my pond once..and found out that it floats unless you are using extremely large pieces. I don't know that it would be of any use in a reef tank.

As U say Kathy it floats when U first put it in.. Once it get water logged it sinks.. The reason why I ask is...It is very porous and I'm thinking it would be a great place for bacteria to grow..It can be shaped very easy by cutting or chiseling . I was thinking as a base type rock or a supplement in my sump..Just not sure if it would leach anything bad out.. ALL thoughts on this subect are welcome>>>

Is this the same a Lava rock?
I would be concerned about the impurities / metals it might leach into the tank?
