need help with refugium

soo im still new to the hobby and still exploring things out there, id like to know what i need to start my own refugium?i have a 30g sump for my 55g tank..it'd be nice getting some advice from the pros

What's in the tank does it have compartments? You'll have the overflow going in, hopefully a chamber for your fuge - with maybe sand, live rock, and macro algae, a light over that. Then hopefully another chamber for your protein skimmer, heater, return pump and any other misc. equipment.

for mandown123 and fredrowell i started 4-5 months ago, i just have the out/in flow, powerheads,sand,liverocks, 4 fish(idk if thats what you meant by "whats in my tank"..i have space for my skimmer in the first stage in my sump(it has a filter sock), for the 2nd stage i have my bioballs,etc...3rd stage is empty...and 4th is just the outflow back to my tank.

For "refugium", usually the first thing you'll want to decide is if you just want it to put equipment in and do top-off, or do you instead want to use it to remove nutrients.
