Starting a new tank question

so im thinking about starting a second nano tank just a 5.5 gallon kenya mushroom gardem. My question is if i take 3 gallons from my main tank and just mix up a 2 gallon batch of fresh salt water would it take away the cycle ill also put live sand and cured live rock from my main tank into the nano or would it just recycle anyway?

Using the cured live rock from your main tank should minimize your cycle, although I would advise using new sand for the new tank. disrupting established sand beds can sometimes cause trouble.
