I have my tank running a canister filter (not sump! gasp) which is underneath my tank. Until now I've used a small amount of carbon and gfo in the filter itself. But I want to start using more media, so I have an idea that I need an opinion on. I want to put a media reactor running carbon and or gfo in between the tank and the filter, and I feel like the siphon from the tank and the sucking power of my ehim canister would be enough to drive the media reactor without additional pumps. What do you think? Will it work?

I would not do it. If you put it on the intake you will reduce the flow, and since I'm guessing this is your only filtration, bad idea. if you put it on the return it could tumble too fast and grind the gfo to dust. Unless you reduce the flow, then you are back to the first problem.
