How important is a sediment cartidge when making RO/DI water? Mine has somehow become clogged and I really need to perform a water change. Is a carbon cartridge and ro membrane sufficient or could this damage my tank?

You'll be fine. Just change it when you can.

You can get a sediment cartridge at plumbing supply, Home Depot, wherever. It's not going to ruin tank but if it got clogged it's catching sediment. Without that sediment cartridge in place it will instead get caught in your carbon filter, or worse your membrane.
