What is the proper parameters for Alk in a reef tank ?

generally anywhere from 8-9 is ideal. I've heard of tanks run as low as 6 and as high as 11. Consistency is the most important especially if keeping SPS. If you're not keeping SPS or totally loaded up with LPS most likely you wont even need to test it as regular water changes should keep the level in check.

thats in dkh. I dont know ppm, I have always gone by dkh. I'm sure you can google the conversion.
