Are UV necessary

I have been reading and have come across some conflicting information regarding the use of a UV steralizer. As I have only just started (1 1/2 mths) on a 250 lit tank with 60 lit sump starting with FOWLR and then upgrading to a reef tank in about 8 mths time, should I use a UV and if so when shld I start using it? Anyone comments/feedback is greatly appreciated

I am looking at the coral life units, anyone with any experience with this unit?

I know there's a lot of conflicting suggestions out there, but it's only because there's more ways then one to create a successful reef tank

I think most people nowadays do not use UV sterilizers on their reef tanks for fear of killing good waterborne organisms along with the bad. I've never really had the need to myself. If you asked me, I would overlook a UV sterilizer and spend that money on getting better lights or skimmers.
