First of all, welcome to the board, John!

Secondly, I would like you to know the library section of reef.org. Take a quick look and be familiar with the resouce there. I am sure some of the materials there will be helpful later.

Many things in african tank is applicable to saltwater fish only setup. The main difference is the use of saltwater equipement such as skimmer instead of canister filter and wet/dry. If you are looking into keeping live coral, then addition gadgets like strong lighting and chemical additive like calcium is something that you need to be familiar with...

Just let us know what do you have in mind, and we will be more than happy to comment on your idea.

O and im not too sure of lighting yet, my buddie told me i can go UV as long as i get 2-3watts per gallon....true or false? this tank is going in a 15x15x15x15 room thats insulated so i dont wanna go MH, plus im already paying Top $$$ for the electric bill lol. and suggestions on lighting? OK AQUAHOLIC,

First, we have to give the "official" welcome...;)

Before you start purchasing equipment, I'd suggest a good book. Also, don't forget to check out our Beginner's Guide...

And of course, post here with any questions.
Good luck with your new setup, sounds like you're off to a good start.

Sounds good. I'd recommend drilling the main tank or getting a reef-ready model and using Durso standpipes. IMO it's best to avoid a hang-on overflow setup if you have the option to drill.
