I`m going to attempt to inject the aiptasia in my tank with kalkwasser to kill the buggers. Is there a certain amount I need to inject them with or will a little go a long way? There are quite a few of them and I`ve added peppermint shrimp but I`m not seeing an improvement.Should you also only kill a couple at a time to not pollute the tank or does it matter.
Thanks

There ain't much in each of these bugers, so don't worry about pollution unless you have 100's of them in a 5 gal nano tank.

Don't use too much kalk, however, since they can be irrating to other fish/invert in the tank. With good air exchange, it can be less of an issue.

Some people use kalk paste, but that can be an overkill. Just a little is fine. Are you sure you have the real peppermint shrimp (cf. camel shrimp)?

i've heard of people injecting them with lemon juice. Ofcourse too much lemon juice in the water might affect your ph level, but i hear it works great.

Would probably be ok if you spread it out over a length of time

Make sure you really stick the needle in deep so you get the bugger. You gotta get the whole thing otherwise it can grow back.

You don't want to fowl up your tank so I would only inject a few at a time. I have waited a couple of minutes after I injected them and then pulled them out with tweezers.

So far i have not had success with the injection method. I tried boiling water and a couple days later they were back. I have heard that giving them something to munch on before injecting them works because they can't retract while holding on to food. I will try that next. I have some very large ones but very few little ones. I kind of like them myself and I do not have any corals to worry about. People come over and ask me what those cool brown things are. I tell them they are a pest I need to get rid of. They say "Why I like them"..........oh well.
