Mech filtering

I went to a finer mesh filter element in my wet/dry and now it`s catching my copepods.I was wondering if I could just get rid of the filter mesh all together.I`ve read that some people don`t use mechanical filtration at all.Anybody out there running they`re system like that?

If you have alot of Live Rock and a good skimmer you can get rid of it if you like. All its doing is making have extra maintnence for nothing. You def do not want to loose copepods.
