I receintly added a cluster of young feather dusters to my 10 gal tank. A few days later I found a small - 1" - white brittle star in the tank. I guess it hitched a ride with the cluster although I didn't notice it when I put it in the tank. So far it seems peacefull enough but I don't know what it eats. I do know that a large one will eat my sea horses. I also have a 30gal hex and a 45gal hex and a 2gal hex that I keep my live brine in. The 10 gal also has a couple of worms - cool looking - and a lot of very small feather dusters - about 30 or more. I've already got the 30gal set to put the horses in but I'm not sure what to do with the star. I have plenty of "Live Rock" in all my tanks if thats what it eats. Any Suggestions?

The green ones are the ones to worry about.. I'll need to try and find genus and species on that for you, but it's very <giggle> specific. Otherwise, leave it be.

Aha! Found it, the animal one MUST be wary of is Ophiarachna incrassata (notice that "achna" bit, like the "arachna" bit of spiders and scorpions, eh?), the Green Brittle Starfish.

The little white brittles are fine. I have hundreds among my rocks. Probably won't grow any more than an inch...BTW if it was a fish eater, I doubt it could even eat a neon goby at that size. Leave it be and enjoy :D

Don't worry it will be just fine and will not harm anything. My Hawkfish tore my Brittle Star to pieces.

Cool, thanks!! I want to put a few of the LRocks into my other tanks to help get the eco going again. I'm waiting to see what comes out of a couple of the rocks - 2 of the rocks have a small pile of waste outside of them. The waste used to be a cream color, now it's more of a light brown.
Anyway, thanks for the tip on the star!!
