Hi,

I'm currently planning on the type and number of fishes that I will like to have in my 4 x 2 x 1.5 FOWLR tank. Question: how many fishes can I have in this dimension?

My shortlisted fishes as follows;

1) Yellowtail Blue Damselfish
2) Blue Chromis
3) Royal Gramma Basslet
4) Yellowstripe Maroon Clownfish
5) Mimic Lemon Peel Tang
6) Flame Angelfish (Dwarf Angel)
7) Passer Angelfish
8) Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish

Will these combination work out? I actually wanted to include the Six Line Wrasse but read that it will attack invert and may have problem with other fished thus omitted it. Does anyone have problem keeping a Wrasse?

Do give me your opinion.

Thank you

The bioload is high. If it were me, I would leave only one angel, and keep only one specie of damsel. Keeping a group of the same damsel fish looks much better than one of each.

I would probably drop the longnose as well as it is harder to feed.

I would also suggest you start with only 3 fish to start, and work your way up slowly. Also, make sure you quarantine all your fishes.

Thanks for the advice. Actually, I was also deciding if I should drop the passer angelfish. Maybe there's a wise thing to do.

Yes. I actually was intending to add these fishes in phases almost in the order I listed.

I have a 4ft x 1.5 x 1.5 FOWLR tank. Ard 50kg/100lbs of LR. Protein and surface skimming with Ehiem Cannister 2026. A 4" DSB. Actually now had some minor changes to my wish list.

1) Green Chromis x 03 (now in my QT)
2) Royal Gramma Basslet
3) True Percula Clownfish x 2 (looking 4 mating pair)
4) Mimic Lemon Peel Tang / Naso Tang
5) Flame Angelfish (Dwarf Angel)
6) Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish

Any recommendation for another butterflyfish instead of yellow longnose?

Thanks

For new hobbyists I wouldnt suggest butterfly fish at all. They are all hard to feed and very delicate.

Actually the butterflyfish will only come in at least 2 months later.
Anyway, any other alternative I can have beside butterflyfish?

How long has your tank been setup? (with all components listed above) and do all of your parameters checkout? (alk,Ph,Ca,Mg,spec gravity,temp,etc...) Yes there are many many other fish to supliment the butterfies and then there are butterflies that are not as troublesome as others. I suggest the pocket guide of marine fishes by scott w. micheal. This book is an excellent resource for the beginner/expert aquarium enthusiast.

My tank has just completed cycling (4 weeks).

Parameters;
PH: 8
NH4: 0
NO2: 0
NO3: 12.5
Salinity: 1.0.21
Temp: 28

Actually, most of my shortlistee are from the book you mentioned. Longnose seems to be one of the hardiest butterfly.

Cheers

try reducing your temp to 26C - 78.8F, 28C - 82F is a little hot. Your Ph should be about 8.3. Your salinity is fine for a FO tank.
