I just bought 2 new power heads (900's). I bought them to increase the circulation in my tank to battle the cyno. Question I have is: where is the best place for me to put them. I currently have 2 power heads and my water return at the top breaking the water, but nothing below. See diagram... I'm thinking of putting the new power heads where you see the ?.

Suggestions would be great.

What I'd be afraid of with your planned placement is the kicking up of sand and/or sucking large particulates into the powerhead. I would personally place them at least midway up and use the directional output attachment to vector the flow in the direction you want.

Well my main goal is to rid myself of the cyno but I will move them up enough to prevent blowing the sand. I just want to make sure I get enough current going thru there. I was also hoping that by staggering them I would be able to create a circular flow through the whole tank.

Personally I don't like the powerhead in the front, as it takes away from the looks. The other one is hidden behind the rock, but I guess you do what you have to do.
