Picture the side of the tank where the 2 panes of glass meet

About 1/2 inch down from the plastic frame there is a small chip/crack in the side of the glass....

It is where the two peices of glass are bonded together. The portion of the crack is towards the outside of the glass, meaning that there is still some glass not cracked on the side of the seam towards where the silicone is used on the inside of the tank. THe silicone on the inside seems fine.

I can't explain how it happened, I got it home, was filling it to see if it had any leaks, and noticed it.

Is this something I should worry about? I can't get a good pic with the digital camera, or I would put it up. I just bought it, and the tank has a 90 day warranty, so I will try to have the place I bought it from replace it. But I am worried that they might give me a hard time. Not that I think they will, but you never know. I dont want to blow anther 100 bucks on a tank, I would rather put that towards LR and other things i still need.

Thanks!

Since the tank is new I'd try to return it as you suggested and get one that's not chipped. You're (hopefully) going to have it setup for a long time and probably won't want to be looking at or worrying about that chip...

That said (and FWIW), I doubt this would ever amount to a problem. Without a pic and seeing how bad the chip is, it's hard to say, but I've had tanks chipped in a similar manner that were up and running for years with no issues.

Yea a pic could help. I agree, a chip on the edge probably won't pose a big problem. If it were smack dab in the middle of the pane, different story.

If the tank is small, say20 gal (I doubt it), it is probably fine. The main issue is that the innocent chip can be the seed for a bad event later down the road... How big is the tank? I would return it or sell it as a lizard/turtle tank.
