I have a 26g FO tank...I just have one fish and a few tiny inverts. I don't really want to buy a RODI filter at the moment for such a small, simple tank, but the phosphates in my tap water are high and its causing that cyano to grow on everything. A pretty experienced reefkeeper friend of mine recommended this instead...

he's pretty trustworthy but I was just looking for some second opinions.

Thanks!

It is fine, but it going to cost you quit a bit if you use lots of water. Depends on your tap water quality, you will pay about $0.25 to $1 per gallon when you consider the cost of the replacement cartlidge.

For a mostly fish tank, a barebone RO can be a better alternative.... IMHO

Or you can by drinking water from the grocery store, or most LFS have RO/DI water for sale by the gallon.

I take mine home from work in 6 gallon camp water containers!

waste of money for the Tap Water Purifier, I had one and the cartridge got used up SOOO quick! and it sucks too, RO/DI is a much better investment. even if you have a small tank, the money saved with less filter changes on a RO/DI will pay off the initial cost before you know it.
