Why only Iawasaki bulbs. I understand it may be a specification issue but if an Iawasaki 250w burns on a MV ballast, then another brand 250w should aswell, right?

Depends on the bulb. You'd need to check with the manufacturer of the bulb to find out which ballasts will fire the bulb. You can't just screw in a different bulb and make it work. Halides don't work like that. ;)

The Iwasaki has special capacitor build-in on the bulb, enable it to be used on both MH and MV ballast. If other brand has the similar design, then of cause it will work as well. But AFAIK, Iwasaki is the only that have this feature.

At any rate, check the specification of the ballast. Very likely, the ballast will be dual use (have both ANSI H series and M series notation). If it is the case, you can use the ballast to drive both types (MH and MV) of bulbs with the right wattage.

Most ballast manufacture just don't make MV-only ballast, I heard.
