Hello everyone. This is my second post and i have a lighting related question.
I just purchased a 250 Watt PFO HQI Mini Pendant MH system from marinedepot. I like to see the actinic blueish light so do you think its worth buying another light just for that purpose?

Also whats the purpose of a moon light other than just aesthetic value?

Cheers!

Well I guess it depends on how important the bluish look is to you. Personally, everything I get out of my tank is visual so I think it is important for the lighting to be to your liking. You might first see if there are other DE bulbs available now that are slightly more blue; that would save you from buying another fixture.

If you're looking for maximum PAR and maximum flourescence, just add some T-5 or VHO actinic flourescent lighting.

If you want to stick with one lighting system there are quite a few lamp choices in 250 watt DE now that would have a slight to very blue tint. The downside is that you give-up some PAR (compared to using 6.5Ks or 10Ks)...

A few examples I can think of off the top of my head now available in 250 watt DE: XM 20K, AB (Aqualine) 20K, Hamilton 14K, Coralvue 12K/15K/20K....I'm sure there are others...
