Getting a burst of microbubbles from my powerheads every 15 seconds or so. Otherwise they are doing their job but the microbubbles are a bit obnoxious.

Anyone have any experience/suggestion with these? 1 of my 4 is the most obnoxious, two others have issues from time to time.

Working hard to have really clear water, but fighting these little bubbles.

Thanks!!

Are the powerheads completely below the waterline? And no air tubes attached of course?

If so the only thing I can say it is likely cativation creating the bubbles.

Do you have a sump setup? I do, and my 802's blow little bubbles every 15 or seconds too. Mine are completely submerged.

I believe what happens is this... I have micro bubbles coming from the sump and blown into the main tank. These bubbles collect in the foam of the 802 and are blown out everh 15 seconds or so as larger bubbles that are more visible because they are a bit bigger...

Sounds like we have a similar setup. I do get more from the two powerheads that are near the return from the sump.

Anyone out there have a solution to our problem?

It sounds like I been having the same problem. It happened from the euro skimmer. Everytime, I turned it on, the tank was returned lot of microbubbles. Can someone help to get rid of the bubbles? thanks

Adding baffles to your sump can eliminate any bubbles from making it to your return pump. Also, most skimmers settle down in time. After a couple of months they get a coating of slime on their insides and tend to produce less microbubbles at the outlet.

I'm assuming Euroreef users are already using the sponge that comes with the skimmer for the output pipe (which helps control the microbubbles as well)...

my problem is the powerheads in the tank (there to move water around) are creating these bursts of microbubbles every 10-15 seconds. only 1 does it bad and one other does it occasionally.

no microbubble issues in my sump.

any thots?

Eboss, your powerheads are definitely too close to the surface. They should be well and completetly submerged, AND, take either the tubing that came with them, or a longer piece of tubing and tie it in a simple knot. Stick that in the "venturi" hole at the top of the outlet. This will help ensure that no air gets sucked in through there.
