yet another question about MH

I'm going to buy a new MH light set up soon (if The Man does not take all my tax's and I get a return) and my question is: I've got a 29 g I'm considering either a 250 w of a 150 HQI. I've read all over this board that the 250 HQI is close in output to the 400 w. Does the same hold true with the 250 mogul vs 150 HQI?

There are a lot of variables to consider (ballasts, lamps, reflectors) so it's a pretty tough question to answer IMO. The DE setups generally seem to be more efficient because the small lamp size allows for a more efficient reflector design.

Either setup should be enough light to keep anything in a tank of that height. If energy consumption is a big issue, the 150 HQI would be the better choice, but the 250 Mogul might be cheaper to setup initially.

IMO either way you go would be a great choice...

Got ya. From what I've been reading and researching there is no one answer to lighting quesitons. I'm poor so I'll probably end up with the 250 mogul and no food for a few weeks. Thanks for the responce.
