Hello to all, my first post.

My tank is a Jewel Vision 180 with T5's, live rock, Prizm skimmer and DSB.

Curent stock:-
1x Bi-Colour Blennie
2x Clowns
1x Dottyback
1x Fireball Angel
1x Mandarin
2x cleaner shrimps
Several corals

I'd like one more fish, mid water swimmer, something like an Achilies Tang, Copperband etc.

Am i at maximum stock level?

What fish would you recommend?

Cheers

Hi Major Stare, and welcome to reefs.org.

I think your 180 could handle a few more fish. I am not sure how well that prism skimmer will work, but that is another subject.

I have no experience with achilles tangs, but it is my understanding that they are considered difficult to keep.

Yellow, purples, and sailfins are hardy, relatively inexpensive, and would likely work well for you in your tank.

A foxface rabbitfish might work well for you as well.

What kind of fish were you considering?

Thanks for the reply Louey :D

The Prizm skimmer is a very good skimmer and can handle a larger tank than mine, this will soon be relocated into a DSB sump.

I like the Achilies - lovely shape and colour. I have been told by my LFS that my tank is too small (180lts) for a Tang or Butterfly and im nearly at my stocking level...........my LFS currently has 2x Achillies.

My choice is somthing along the lines of:-
4/5 Anthias
4/5 Chromis
Copperband
Purple, yellow, Achilies or blue Tang

What do you think?

I don't think you'll have any problems add a few more fish in a systems as large as yours. Assuming your skimmer and DSB are functioning properly, and you don't mind doing an ocassional WC.

I like all your choices except the achilies. They are beautiful fish, and you could get lucky with one, but they are generally considered one of the more demanding of the surgeonfishes.

Let us know what you choose.

prizm skimmer on a 180 gallon?!?!?!

No...its a 180ltr......sorry !

How about 2/3 Anthias?

A 24"x12"x12" sump is being fitted at the end of the month in the adjoining garage, either DSB or trickle...havent decided yet.

Oh, that changes everything. No tangs for you.

Your LFS is prolly right, you prolly are already maxed out. Unless you really want to doing more WC's, I wouldn't add anything else.

RIght no tangs. + you want to make sure you qurantine the new fish. The new quest could wipe your fish out. also you want to go slowly so your tank can support the bio-load Good luck
