That little sucker jumped into the overflow box, passed through the syphon tube and was caught in the bulkhead and pre-filter. When I got home from work, I couldn't find him and seen what looked like something orange in the overflow. I picked up the pre-filter and down he went into the sump. I shut off the main sump and just let him swim for a while since he looked pretty tired.

Should I just cover the overflow with a piece of acrylic or what?

Or some gutter netting. Do you have a pic of the top of your overflow. It might be easier to suggest a solution if we could see the situation.

Glad he made it!

I use acylic covering. I've also used eggcrate wrapped with screen door netting. I think the overflow should be covered since as you can tell, that trip down the chute is really stressful and potentially lethal.
