Hey all just got 2 Emerold crabs 3 days ago, they were hiding when I first put them in. Now, they rund around the sand bed lookign for stuff to eat, that's when I noticed little things running around the crab's bodies. any one know what it is? Is it some kind of parasite? The thingies looks clear about .1 mm in size, real small and they run real fast. I plan on getting some small fish soon...

Should I be concern?

No. Probably they are just *pods that got on the crab. Take a look at the hitchhiker section of the site, and see if you can find the same critter there.

They are probably copepods, which are beneficial. I doubt they would be a parasite of any kind. There is also a very small chance that they are baby crabs. I know some species of crabs carry their babies on their backs for a while, but I have no idea if emerald crabs do this. Whatever they are, i wouldn't be too concerned.
