What to use to clean the outside of the tank?

I started out with a natural window cleaner that has no alcohol, amonia or anything like that and paper towel.

Now I see the folly in my ways as my Eclips acrylic tank has some fine scratches at the top of the tank, so obviously I need to use some other sort of cloth, but what wont scratch acrylic? Would a simple cottle bath towel scratch the acrylic too?

I use 2 terry cloths and regular tap water. First I dampen one of the cloths (not soak) to wash it then I wipe the acrylic until dry with the other cloth, lightly as not to scratch the surface.
To remove those scratches you can use car wax or as I use Rain-X, if they aren't to deep.

Coralife makes an acrylic buffer/polisher that works great for outside of the tank, I have used on my acrylic for years with no scratches. This stuff only costs about 8 dollars for a bottle that will last you a year. Use a clean terry towel (or baby diaper if you have one) and buff with the coralife buffer, then allow to dry and buff off the polish, leaving a clean surface. You dont have to dampen the cloth or wet the surface of the acrylic, this stuff can clean even the nastiest of salt creep.

Also consider getting some Seaclear Buffer to remove those hariline scratches from your existing acrylic, the kit is easy to use and works a lot like car wax.............wax on wax off
