yup -- good for FW. they do work if you consider that they are a form of algae, so they do soak up excess nutrients to an extent.

They sell these in a NJ LFS and they are for FW. Never used them in my FW tanks but they are readily available here.

I'd never seen them before either. Got a friend w/a large FW and thought they looked interesting.
If she picks em up, I'll let ya know how they do...

yep morimo balls ... we have a few good FW LFS' around here that regularly sell them.

Supposedly they naturally form at the bottoms of some Japanese lakes. They are quite rare and I think it is illegal to collect or export them. The ones you buy are made artificially.
