I finally added some coral to my reef.. along with Hermit crabs... it seems the hermit crabs are eating my coral.. is this possible???? If so.. how can I stop it?
what kind of hermits..red legged hermits have a tendancy to nip from what i hear.. i have several different assortment of hermits...none of which tough coral...
Mine appear to eat my coral but they steal the Cyclo-eeze right from the polyps, those little bastards! Whne I put a new rock in the tank maybe with some coral attached to it, they pick over it right away. I do feed them but no that much. I have blue legged and red legged and I would perfer the blues because they stay smaller.
what kinda hermits??? i emphasize becuz you have the small hermits that dont get bigger than 1in and you have larger hermits that can do so some serious damage to corals and fish...the really nasty ones get the size of a ping pong ball with shell included...
Those are all reef safe hermits...im almost willing to guarantee none of the bluelegged or scarlets will bother corals...have you actually seen the crabs picking at the corals and destroying it...what kinda corals exactly are we talking about...???
