Going to Fla. this week and it's real easy to pick up hermitt crabs. Been reading about them and discusing them as well. Are they as destructive as I'm led to believe? If I get some should I keep them? Should I try to get hermitt crabs?
Don't get the large hermit's, they'll destroy a reef tank with decent efficiency. Make sure they're only the "scarlet" reef hermits, they stay small, and don't seem to cause as much trouble as some of the other reef hermits (blue legs etc). From what I have read, no snail is perfectly safe in a tank with even one hermit in it though, reef hermit or not.
Taz is right...dont get large hermits...i think personally think IMO with hermits...(the small ones) the small amount of negative behavior they may exhibit from time to time doesnt outway the benefits they have in a reef tank...IMO of course....
