Best way to run carbon without using a cannister filter?

I want to run a little carbon. Is there a way to do it via my sump? Is there some kind of packs I could just throw in the sump? I dont have a cannister filter anymore so that option is out.

In the sump of my 200gal. I made a basket out of 1/2" pvc pipe, filled a media bag with carbon, and hung the basket with the carbon in the sump under the pipe bringing water from the tank. Works great! Maybe a bit ghetto as they say, but no one sees it in the sump anyway.

I use a nylon bag from the LFS, and just let it sit in the overflow.
