I have a 45 gallon IFS, up and running for about 4 months. I currently have a Coral Beauty and 3 Fariy Wrasses. Since my tank is too small to acomodate the 3 wrasses I am going to return them to my LFS this weekend. I am trying to decide an appropriate tank mate or two for the Coral Beauty. I am thinking about a Royal Gamma and/or a Firefish. Any recomendations? Looking primarily for a fish with lots of personality...

They are Lubbocks Fairy Wrasses. I thought about returning two, but am concerned about breaking them up. If I were to keep two, would it be best to keep the male or one of the females?

When I had my Lubbocks I kept a single specimen in my tank. I do not know how they do in groups, some fairys do well others not so good. If they are ok together and the only other fish is a coral beauty I personally dont think the tank is so small that you couldnt keep all four fish in there if their personalities allow it.

I would keep the wrasses and ditch the CB.
How big to the wrasses get? That does not sound like to much for a 45G tank.
I have a Royal Gramma and it hides most of the day, I would take him out if I could catch him and add another fish that is out in the open more.
