after reading some of the posts on here. i now find temp ranges confusing.
I know to keep temperature as stable as possible.
but what range should i do this in.
e.g 74-76 76-78 or 78-80 80-82

what is the minimum for reef and fish and what is the max temperatures.

You've pretty much got the range. Depending on the provenance of the fish or coral, some may inhabit a naturally warmer (say Red Sea) or cooler (say Gulf of Mexico) part of that range.

Just pick a temperature you like and stick with it. I personally like 76-78F.

There are so many opinions on this but IMO that is border line to getting to high, I wouldnt let it get any higher than that. Also if your corals are thriving and arent showing signs of being stressed than you should be fine.

I like to set the temp for the high range of what the tank will reach with fans, but no chiller. In my case, around 79-80. I'd really prefer 78, but then I'd be faced with 78 at night and possibly 80-82 in the summer, so I opt for the least amount of variance.

temp dropped to 75.8 without lights and reached 77.4 with lights got fans on variable power supply so can alter speeds. looks like they are doing the job ok..may go up a little in summer....

Thanks to you all for the help...much appreciated.
