Hi, in response to your question re Ammonia levels - I have had my 90 gallon reef tank set up for threeweeks now. I have about 90 lbs of Fiji live rock, and originally 4 Green Chromis. One of the Chromis died, and I could never find it. During this period, micro algae was covering everything, so I added about 8 oz. of Macro Algae hoping it would compete for nutrients, and a small team of algae eaters: 10 Nassarius Snails, 14 Cerith Snails, 15 Dwarf Blue Leg Hermit crabs, 10 Astraea Turbo Snails, and 2 Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs. They have done a great job in removing the micro and hair algae. Anyway, my ammonia went to 2.0 ppm at the highest, and is now at 0.5ppm. I don't really know how high it could get in your case, but from what I have heard from others, 2.0ppm is not excessive for very hardy fish, but would kill inverts. I will wait until Ammonia is 0 and Nitrate is 0 before I add any more critters, and I expect that to be early next week based on my testing. Hope this helps.
