I'm getting ready to set up my very first salt water aquarium. As a carpentry hobbyist, my father is building me a nice oak stand to go with all the other furniture he built for me. I don't have that much room in my tiny apartment, so the stand will only be 32" long, but it did end up being 16" wide which I just learned means it could support a 36 gallon bowfront or a 29 gallon standard aquarium. My questions are: Is there any disadvantage to getting the bowfront style aquarium (glass cleaning, maintinence, stability, etc.)? Is the extra 7 gallons gained by the front bulge really worth paying double for the tank?

the drawback i know of is finding a canopy to fit the tank. maybe your father can help you there too.
i like bowfronts. the added curve can really add to the appearance.

as for the pricing, that would depend on the buyer.

i really like the new 30 gallon cubes that Oceanic is making... they would fit on there

AllGlass makes a 65g w/overflow which is 36x18x24. Are the dimentions of the stand set or can they be modified? If so, that could be a nice small reef. I'm not sure of the cost differential however-I do know the 29g is cheap <$50,not sure about the 65g.
