Thanks all think I know what I'm going to do with my clean up crew. The question is now what about the Sea Star or Star Fish? Does it kill anything? I would reather have peaceable inhabitants, my little girls are unhappy when something disappears. They become attached to thigs you know. Thanks for all the help, Ya'll are great :D

Star fish are a mixed bag. The one thing most share, however, is that they're relatively fragile. In light of your daughters, I'd recommend refraining from trying a starfish until the tank is mature and you have more experience. Most are peaceful, but at the same time they aren't hardy.

However, the commonly kept large olive green brittle star is a voracious predator, and will eat shrimp and sleeping small fish.

Do you know more specifically what species of star?
