Greetings! I'm curious if anyone had any insight on mounting livestock in a 10 gallon tank. It's like playing Jenga every friggin' I mount something. When my lights go out and my cleanup crew starts moving, more often than not I've found fallen livestock(UGH!!!). Lately, I've mounted a small platform with suction cups on the glass, trying to get a new small clam to attach to small piece of rock. Any suggestions? Thanks! M

Depends on the clam. Most has bysal threads that hold the clam inplace. These usually attach with in 24 hours or so. Croceas like to be in niches so to speak as in nature they burrow into the live rock they live on. Others such as Derasa, giga and the other larger spiees may perfer a placement on the sand.

For hard corals I like to use super glue gel, although for ver large heavy specimens epoxy works better.

What else are you having trouble placing?

I've been mounting with superglue and putty for larger pieces. Everything is just so damn tippy. I've been thinking about using plexiglass rods for support. I'd be curious what y'all say. Thanks, M

You can also use monofilament fishing line, rubberbands, toothpics, etc. to hold certain types of corals in place until they attach/encrust.

If you tell us specifically what kind of coral you're having a problem mounting we can probably make more specific recommendations.
