moved my power head around last night and realized that almost anything I disturb in the tank results in a lot of trash floating around in the tank. Not sure if it's dead stuff from the LR or alge that's grown while the rock has been cycling. Guess I didn't really clean the rock before putting it in... should I try to get the junk suspended and get some mechanical filteration??

Water tests almost zero, so put some snails and hermits in. so far, so good.

45 lbs of LR in 26g bowfront ... is that too much?? maybe in different thread, I'll post some pics and get suggestions on aquascaping.
thanks - Rick

Don't worry about the detritus. If you care, you can stick a sponge on the powerhead intake for a few weeks, otherwise, think of the detritus as detritivore food.

I assume you've got a good protein skimmer skimming along?

45 lbs LR in 26g tank is fine. For my taste, I prefer less LR and lower biological loading (e.g. fewer fish), but that's a matter of taste.

Oh, I finally (with some help) figured it out:

It is normal in just about any tank if you blow on the live rock with a pump or what not to get debris in the water. I personally take a turkey baster to my rock to get it in the water column to a) keep the rock clean and b) to let corals and critters filter it out.
