I have noticed something in my tank that I've not seen before and was wondering what it was. The fluorescent green blotch of color is all that my camera would pick up of it. In reality it is all over the place glowing like the irredescent stripes on my mushrooms do, especially with the actinics on by themselves. It has what I would describe as a radioactive appearance to it. I have had this tank for years and had actinic bulbs on the tank for a few but have never noticed this type of coloration in any of the other algaes in the tank.

Impossible to tell by that picture though I would venture to say that it's simply green coraline algae.

Ya, very hard to tell with the image provided and the size of the specimen. It could be green corallin like david says or perhaps the new shoot of one of many macroalgae species.

i've got two or so tiny patches of that on my live rock. Mines more of a flourescent yellow, but it kinda has a greenish tint. cool stuff, wish it'd grow faster :D

Sorry about the picture but my camera isn't hte best. I had to play around with different flashes and lighting scenarios just to get what showed to do so. It is more of a flourescent yellow than a green though. So long as it is good and not bad.
I had no idea there was a such thing as green coraline algae. I only thought coraline algae was from pink to purple in color.
