I just got my Ca Reactor up and running, and was wondering.

Will i need to add any additives, like Iodide, Magnesium & Strontium to name but a few ?

I know the speel on the packaging of the reactor media says it's full of trace elements and so on and so forth.
I was curious does anyone else dose stuff in addition to a Ca reactor or does the media suffice.

Thanks

Anton :)

In the beginning, you may need to add calcium, since it will take a while for the reactor to get up to full speed (about a week or two). As for the Iodine, it is probably a waste of money all along (my 2 cents). Mag. and Str. is up to you... say if you have a bunch of leftover that you can't give away :? It really up to what you have in your tank. If you have a heavily stocked one, then you may want to gradually give up the additives.

A reactor's job is to mantain a set CA level. It's very good at doing this, but kind of slow at raising the level. It's much better to first raise the level to where you want to maintain it, then let the reactor do it's thing. Do you need to put put additives in your tank with a reactor? No, not IMO.

If u have a ca reactor u running u dont hav e to put anything else into the tank. WHne u do a saltwater change u will be adding elements into the tank anyway. it is just a waste of money. esspeically if u use a foam refractor/ protein skimmer.
