The Modest Reef looks good, PH is coming down but the Nitrate has gone up. Water change tommarrow we'll see if that helps. Do you think it's time for a skimmer. Was thinking about a Back Pak II. Any suggestions?

Brad :)

I have had both the BakPak and the AquaC urchin and there both really good skimmers. I also lean more torwards the AquaC line, guess it comes down to cost.

I hear Aqua C line is really good..i own a bak pak 2r..that works great for me..my Lees internal skimmer worked very good too, just too much of a hassle...Bak Pak is about 40 bucks cheaper, give or take...for roughly 200 bucks you can get the Aqua C Remora Pro with Maxijet 1200 upgrade?? I think..

Another skimmer to consider is the Precision Marine HOT-1. Personally, I prefer the AquaC Remora Pro, but the PM HOT-1 and Bak Pak are both significantly cheaper and do an admirable job. I find the Bak Pak can be a stellar performer by doing a simple mod of adding an airstone (instead of using the Rio's venturi).

I have had the Backpak and The AquaC Remora Pro. The Remora Pro blows the BaKPak out of the water but they are also two differnt sized skimmers. The Remora(non-pro) is more a competitor for the BaKPak though. One things to keep in mind though is the Remora's are not silent. If noise is key, look at the HOT-1 it is an excellent skimmer or if trying to keep cost down look at an Excalibur (similar in design but can be had for less).
