I have been planning my first reef tank for time.Recently I went to a new LFS to check out corals and rock.I can't believe the prices WOW.I was planning on getting my rock online but I was weary about buying specimens(corals, inverts,or fish) unscene.I'm starting to reconsider.
Any imput on buying online corals, inverts and fish would be helpful. There is so many online sites, some of them have to good right? 8)

check the sponsors link above -- RDO has generally high-quality sponsors.

i've personally dealt with premium aquatics, reeffanatic.com and IPSF (ipsf.com) and have been very pleased with all of them. other folks on the board have had good things to say about inland aquatics, jeff's exotic fish and marine depot.

good luck!

Any of the sites that have been mentioned here are great...i've personally dealt with inland aquatics, jeff's, marine depot, and reeffanatic..all great sites with great customer service and competitive prices...

Have you picked up any books yet? There're plenty of great ones (ie: the conscientious marine aquarist, etc)

Remember though, that the Inland Aquatics storefront is now a telescope store and Inland Aquatics as a web-store is essentially completely shut down.

A lot depends on what you want to aquire, and the LFS's in your area.

LFS's are nice for expensive/rare fish/corals that don't have the best track record so you can see them before buying. You pay a little more but you get to view/not buy a specimen if you chose which is worth a few bucks to me.

Then again a some LFS are just ich farms...

COrals are expenxive but if u find a place local to where ya live that tranships stuff in u will find good quality stuff at a cheaper price since the store would taking the wholesaler out of the equation
