I am not really propagating but I am rescuing a mushroom I have. It gets swept by the currents to the back of the tank where ther is very little light. Now I have gotten the mushroom to the point of bonding to the rock chips in my aquarium but when I go to glue it to the bigger piece of LR the mushroom detatches itself. I know its detaching itself because the chips of rock it had bonded with are still stuck on the LR. What am I doing wrong? I am using super glue as instructions say to use.

Are you using super glue "gel" ?

Make sure your using the gel version. There are also different reef safe glues/epoxies that you can try out. Just browse through some of the sponser links and you will fin some "marinedepot"...

I don't think I have the gel version but I have performed this same action successfully on one of my Ricordias that I bought who was drifting along in the current in the LFS tank. The Ricordia is doing great now. I just cant figure out why the mushroom is being so tempermental when the Ricordias are supposed to be the more sensative species.

for some reason shrooms dont like the glue..they seem to detach..i have tried the same thing with no success..maybe using a needle to pin it down..if not it will more than likely attach somewheres in your tank...

Even though I'm an sps reefer and think shroons are the "weeds" of a reef, try pinning it down with a wooden toothpick. Works every time!
