i recently aquired a "venturi" protein skimmer and have however found that instead of producing a thick broth of bubbles as ive been told its ment to , all it does is produce copious amounts of fine tiny bubbles that dont bubble over into the collecting cup but rather they dissapate. Ive tried it on all the different air valve settings to no avail. any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers.
its been running for four days if that helps and the system only has cured live rock as the tank is cycling.

BTW.. skimmers perform much much better if the salinity is on the high end. My skimmer (berlin classic) wasn't producing a lot of skimmate but once i upped the SG to 1.025 it started to get very consistant.

your skimmer is breaking in...sometimes they wont produce skimmate for a few weeks, just to reitterate what Chris said...

i did some research, and on wetwebmedia.com someone asked a question about jebo skimmers -- and the WWM folks checked around and couldn't find any information about them http://www.wetwebmedia.com/skimsel9.htm (search for "jebo" on the page).

i found one reseller that describes them as "based on the old Queen Skimmer model" -- and from researching "Queen Skimmers", it seems that they may be Chinese versions of european skimmers... interesting. is there a web site for your jebo skimmer? i couldn't find one...

i did find one thread on another forum about jebos -- http://www.reef-chat.com/forum/showthre ... eadid=8518 -- consensus seems to be that they're not bad for the low price.

keep your eyes on the skimmer -- because they're so inexpensive and because very little is known about them in the reefing community, i'd be wary... if you're unable to get it performing adequately within a month or so, i say bag it in favor of one of the brands that has thousands of happy customers and good reviews. :)
