Good to meet you fellow hobbyists...:))

I am in the process of putting together my 175g tank and 20g refugium...I have two questions: 1) Is my refugium big enough; 2) Since my main tank is a going to be a reef, what kind of critters/fish should I put my refuge that I cannot put in my main tank?

All help appreciated.

IMO, i would go with a bigger refug... something like a quarter size of your tank.. even a 50 gallon should do better.. you could put starfish in your refug if you want to sift your sand around, like the sand sifting starfish.. bristle worms are better off there as well,

You might want to be cautious about adding any sandsifting stars (or fish) if you intend to maintain a live sand bed. That's what they're sifting for - the sand bed critters.

Sand cukes and several types of snails will keep your sand stirred without destroying the life in it.

Check out Inland Aquatics for critter seeding kits. Also, check out Premium Aquatics - they sell "crude" out of the live rock curing tanks that has tons of life in it and is very inexpensive.
