I am just about to set up a new Marine aquarium and the stockist tells me that Madagascar live rock is vastly superior to the normal Fiji rock with less delivery time to the uk and therefore more life forms still alive on arrival. Has anyone any knowledge of this rock?

Mick :welcome:

I have not heard of it, but I would not doubt that it will have more life on it than Fiji based on the distance to travel. I doubt its "superior" in any way other than that to the pacific types... but that is enough.

If you can get some, take some pictures of it and its life and let us know how it looks! I'm curious to see what sort of density and forms it has.

Thanks for the reply, I have purchased 20 kg (about 44lb) of this Madagascar live rock and it certainly has some growth on it, including xenia pulse coral. I will give it a few weeks and then take a picture and send it on.

I don't know about superior as I have no knowledge of Fiji Rock but it does seem to be as good as any live rock I have seen for sale.
