Hello fellow reefers:

I have read CHILL's thread regarding the tank not being level and I have a follow-up question....

After filling my new 175g tank tonight I have discovered that my tank is also not level.....And also 1/2" off.....

Question: My tank has two overflow boxes...So....Rather than shimmying one side of the stand, how about using a Dremel and sanding down the interior wall of the overflow box (overflow is double walled)??? I am worried about the weight it would put only a couple of shims and the stress it might put on the stand......

Welcoming any and all suggestions........

Thanks.

Well, if you don't level the tank and do some compensating dremel work to the overflow box, you will still have a tank that looks full at one end and is missing a half inch of water at the other end. If you can live with that effect, than your idea is alright.

If I were you, I would empty the tank into some container drums and figure out a way to level anyone one of the following:
1) level the tank on the stand
2) level the stand on the floor
3) level the floor

3) is the best solution (if possible), 2) being the next best.

what kind of stand you got? metal? if so, maybe you could use a hydraulic lift that you crank by hand, if you can get one or have one, lift up one side and put some more support in to make it even.. just a thought.. i used the hydraulic lift once to lift up one side of my 110 gallon tank.. worked fine.. had to replace the ghetto milk crate/wood stand with concrete blocks..
